The Sharp Grey Sheep

A major project from the final year of my degree. I illustrated five scenes from the traditional Scottish fairy tale The Sharp Grey Sheep for the Kelpies Illustration Prize 2019.

The story of The Sharp Grey Sheep is the tale of a girl being starved by her wicked stepmother, but who is kept alive by the intervention of a sharp horned grey sheep. When this is discovered by her stepmother, the sheep learns that it is to be killed, and gives the girl instructions on how to revive it. Later, the girl is courted by a prince, but the stepmother conspires to have the prince marry her own daughter instead. With the help of a particularly loud bird, the girl manages to expose this scheme, and lives happily ever after.
